OBI Russia intends to open 3 to 4 do it yourself shops each year
Moscow, 29th of November 2007 - OBI Russia intends, starting from 2008, to annually open 3 to 4 DIY shops in the Russian Federation, said Mr. Torstem Vogt, general director for OBI Russia. Today, the OBI Belaya Dacha shop has been opened; the shop is the company's 4th object in Moscow and 12th – in Russia. The volume of underwriting to the project has not been disclosed.
"The shop has more than 50,000 products falling into four groups – building supplies, home deco items, tools and gardening goods," Mr. Vogt said. He maintained that the company intends to continue its expansion to Russia's regions and open OBI shops in all cities with a population of at least one million people. He added that IKEA, investor in several OBI Russia projects including OBI Belaya Dacha, would not be the company's only partner in advancement to regions. "We're planning to come to the regions with different developers, it'll depend on the region and economic efficiency of agreements," he said. The company intends to enter the Ukrainian market in 2008.
