New OBI shop opens
Moscow, 3rd of December 2007. Business news - On November 28, a solemn opening of OBI Belaya Dacha shop was held; this is the company's fourth shop in Moscow and twelfth – in Russia. Among the ceremony guests were managing director of OBI Europe Mr. Dieter Messner, general director of OBI Russia Mr. Thorsten Vogt, director of the OBI Belaya Dacha shop Mr. Ralf Jeschke and the municipal authorities' representative, head of the Kotelniki township, Mr. Alexey Yurievich Sedzenevsky.
Following the solemn ribbon cutting ceremony, in line with an established tradition, the OBI leadership granted a present to the city – a 1000 000 rubles certificate to the Belka junior sports school. The gift awarding ceremony was followed by a tour of the shop and press conference on 'OBI and DIY format development in Russia'.
The press conference was held in the 'Garden Paradise' – OBI Belaya Dacha's nicest department, amidst awesome flowers and plants. Mr. Vogt, OBI Russia general director, and Tatiana Okutina, head of the marketing department at OBI Russia, were the spokespersons.
OBI Belaya Dacha shop opened its doors to visitors on November, 29. Before afternoon, the shop's commodity turnover exceeded that planned for the day. Customers waited OBI Belaya Dacha opening before the workday start and at 8 am, its doors swung open, the shop saw a real stir.
OBI company was the first western DIY company to master the Russian market. Opening of the first OBI shops in Russia was an outstanding event – two shops were opened on November 20, 2003 in Moscow (OBI Khimki and OBI Teply Stan). This two rapidly became champions among other international OBI shops – in terms of their turnover and wide clientele. At present, Russia is the OBI group's main expansion target as a leading region in terms of the sales volume and the number of clients of the company's shops.
